Ashanti Regional NSS Director To Work At Head Office Under Direct Supervision

Alex Opoku-Mensah, the Ashanti Regional Director who has been suspended, has been ordered by the National Service Secretariat (NSS) to report to Accra after his suspension “to work under supervision.”

Following the disclosure of audio recordings of an alleged incident between Mr. Opoku-Mensah and a nurse at the Manhyia Government Hospital, Mr. Opoku-Mensah was immediately suspended.

The nurse is claimed to have requested a review of a prescription written by his daughter, a junior doctor at the clinic, and the regional NSS head is heard hurling abuses at her.
Despite his apology for the incident, a committee was formed to look into it.

Osei Assibey Antwi, the executive director, issued a letter to Mr. Opoku-Mensah after the committee’s report was delivered to the NSS to convey the Board’s decision.

The Board approved Mr. Opoku-suspension Mensah for two months without pay, according to the letter
The letter from last month added, “You are to report to the Head Office to work under supervision after the suspension.”

“You are also required to officially apologize to the National Service Scheme for bringing the Scheme’s reputation into contempt within seven (7) days of receiving this letter.
The directive is in force right away, Mr. Assibey Antwi emphasized.

The investigation committee, which included members from the NSS, the Public Services Commission, and the Ministry of Education, was given a month to submit its findings to the NSS management.
