Henry Asante Twum, the GFA’s director of communications, claims that Ghana earned more than the $9 million that was suggested for all competitors who advanced past the 2022 World Cup group stage.
The four-time African champions were defeated by Uruguay in their final group match, and as a result, they were unable to advance to the next stage of the competition. Following their 3-2 victory against South Korea in the previous game, the Black Stars had the opportunity to earn extra money had they avoided defeat against the South Americans. In the first game, they also suffered a similar loss against Portugal.
According to him, Ghana made $9.5 million during the World Cup’s group stage.
He continued by saying that a large portion of the funds would be used to improve the Ghanaian Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
