In a significant development within the Methodist Church of Ghana, Victor Owusu affectionately known as Hon. Kwaku Citizen, the former Local President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) for IBM&J, has been inducted as the new Treasurer for the Youth Development Ministry of the Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana.
This appointment marks a notable transition from student leadership to a pivotal role in religious and community youth engagement.
Victor, who served with distinction during his tenure at NUGS, is known for his dynamic leadership and dedication to youth advocacy. His efforts in addressing student concerns and fostering educational development have earned him widespread respect and admiration among his peers and within the broader student community.
The Kumasi Diocese of the Methodist Church of Ghana inducted him and his colleagues at a ceremony held at the Wesley Cathedral in Kumasi. Church officials highlighted his proven track record in leadership and his deep commitment to youth development as key factors in their decision.
As the Diocesan YDM Treasurer, Victor will be responsible for the finances of the youth ministry, helping with programs and initiatives aimed at spiritual growth, community service, and leadership development. He will work closely with the Diocesan Youth Organizer and colleague leaders to implement strategies that address the needs and aspirations of young people within the church.
BRIEF BACKGROUND
Before assuming office as the Diocesan officer, he had served many roles within the church including the following;
• Children Ministry (Sunday School) teacher for over five years
• Chairman of the Dunwell Methodist Youth Fellowship Dichemso Kumasi, since May 2022 till date.
• Secretary, Circuit Committee for Education and Youth Development New Tafo Circuit Methodist Church Since 2022 till date
• Secretary, Youth Development Ministry, New Tafo Circuit Methodist Church, since 2022
• Youth Endowment Fund Management Committee Member, since 2023
• Resources Mobilisation Committee (Harvest Committee ) Member, Dunwell Methodist Church Dichemso Kumasi, since January 2024.
And many other ad-hoc committees.
Kwaku Citizen’s new role has been met with enthusiasm from both church members and former NUGS colleagues, who see this as a continuation of his commitment to youth empowerment.

Brief About The Methodist Youth Development Ministry:
The Methodist Youth Development Ministry has the responsibility of directing the youth work in the Church, training young people in Leadership, discipleship, skill acquisition, church life, and coordinating the activities of all youth organizations.
The Ministry is also to present to the Church issues affecting young people in line with the mission and vision of the church.
It has from the beginnings of the church helped in the education of youth for right Christian living, good stewardship, and who a person of integrity ought to be.
