Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed his disappointment to members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Caucus for secretly voting to approve the ministerial nominees of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.
He claimed that the MPs had “sorely disappointed” Ghanaians by taking the principled stand of rejecting the candidates a few weeks ago to push the government to lower its size.
“I am also disappointed,” he said on his official Facebook page on March 25, the day after Parliament accepted all six nominees in a secret poll.
He chastised the Akufo-Addo government for passing up an opportunity to lower its size after some ministers resigned.
“Those guilty for this betrayal must go deep within themselves and learn to prioritize national interests before personal interests,” he demanded.
“Obviously, in this time of crisis and terrible sufferings, President Akufo-Addo, his NPP administration, and some of our MPs are out of touch with the mood of Ghanaians.”
He encouraged Ghanaians and everyone who was disappointed with the conclusion of Friday’s proceedings in Parliament to vote for him again next year to “work and construct the Ghana we all desire from January 07, 2025.”
