The President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama after yesterday’s Independence Day Celebration visited the people of Amutinu, Salakope, and Agavedzi who are battling the devastating effects of tidal waves.

The President spent the afternoon with them, witnessing firsthand the challenges they face.
Food, relief items and some cash support were given to the affected people.
“Seeing the devastation reinforced my commitment to finding a long-term solution”
Mr. Mahama stated that he is going to instruct the finance minister to allocate funds in the 2025 budget for Phase Two of the Berekusu Sea Defence Project.

“We must protect these communities”, he added.
However, the President was shocked by the shoddy work done on a resettlement housing project ongoing in one of the communities hence We must do better for our people.
