At about 1030hrs on 18* December 2024, two (2) suspected individuals, namely Wisdom Ahlie (42 Yrs) and Christopher Okyere (33 Yrs) were apprehended after they were seen vandalizing the windscreens and side glasses of parked vehicles in the precincts of Parliament.
The Five (S) vehicles involved included two (2) Toyota Land Cruisers belonging to Members of Parliament, a Toyota Rav 4 and two (2) Toyota Camry belonging to Staff of the Parliamentary Service.
An axe head was used to commit the crime. The motive(s) behind their action(S) is/are unknown.
The perpetrators were swiftly arrested by the personnel of the Parliamentary Security Unit and have since been handed over to the Parliamentary Protection Unit (Ghana Police Service) to carry out further investigations into the incident.
Parliament would like to assure the public that there were no casualties although the extent of damage is yet to be determined.
